Priceline Hotel: Help with expectation in Aventura FL

First, is it too far out to bid for a room February 19th 2011?

I need a room in Aventura FL and it seems the highest rating is 3 star upscale.

On our own we can't find much under $200 I am hoping to bid up too $100 starting fairly low $59?

Any thoughts or comments? If you have any predictions I am interested in those as well.

My wife is fairly picky, any hotels that might fit PL star rating that would be really disappointing?

This will my first try using PRICELINE name your own price.

Thanks,

g

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. If you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll move the entire thread to that section of the board.

We have not seen any 3* hotels reported to the board in this zone, but at the 3* level the Courtyard and Residence Inn would certainly be among the likely candidates. However, with rates at $200+ for this nite i suspect your $59 starting bid is a bit too optimistic.

As far as when to bid, see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.

Is the HOTWIRE property really an option at this point in time as it appears to be twice your maximum budget of $100/nite??

Let us know once you're ready to bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Any thoughts on what property HOTWIRE is referring to at $198?
You mention your budget at ~$100... is this $198/nite hotel really an option?? Are you willing to spend $200/nite for this stay?
I do feel that I am ready to start bidding now and will certainly follow any suggestions you have, thanks.

There is a Best Western in Hallandale Beach, 2.5 miles from Aventura - $119 for your date. There is a Best Western link from this site under the Support/Travel Links tab above, or the hotel is also on the retail side of PRICELINE as a 2*. Other that that, things look either much more expensive ($200 range) or maybe a little nervous-making.

You could still bid 3*s up to that price first just to see if you could do a bit better.

As I have stated I am new. If I am too optimistic so be it I am willing to learn. $100 is not necessarily my maximum bid (I was hoping) I am aware that rooms here for that time are expensive (that is why I'm here)

I have asked twice for opinions as to what hotel/condo HOTWIRE may be offering at $198? In laws live in the Aventura area so location is the most important criteria. $198 may be an option but I was hoping to have some advice as to how to make an educated guess as to what property they may be offering so I can get a feel for the value (does it retail for $250? or more?)

Thanks again for all the suggestions keep them coming.

The only Hotwire Allandale hotel thus far reported here is a 2.5* Best Western somebody got when seeking a Fort Lauderdale airport hotel. Amenities were - Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry. This clearly is not a match for your candidate. (However, it probably is the BW I mentioned in my earlier post though, since HW star ratings are often about 1/2 star higher than Priceline star ratings.)

There haven't yet been any Hotwire reports to this site for Aventura hotels. Prior reporting is the basis for detection, so that is probably why the moderators haven't been able to make an educated guess on the Hotwire hotel you mention.
