X21 Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 On short schedule, only had one chance to bid. Initial bid of $51 for 4* was rejected but Priceline countered with a suggestion of $65. Decided instead to drop down to 3* at $51, which was accepted. Final price with taxes: $61.81 per night.I'd been "upgraded" to the 3.5* Millennium (again; see 11/2/10-11/3/10 report). So it was back to that dump for me. Loud construction started promptly at 8am (despite request for quiet assignment), shabby room, mostly unusable WiFi ($9.95; plug-in worked okay). Try to avoid Millennium.Still, better than most alternatives, especially at that price. I appreciate the guidance I've gotten from this forum (and have used this site's link to PRICELINE). My only complaint is with Priceline for ranking Millennium at 3.5* (will send them a note explaining the situation).
AaronJB Posted November 24, 2010 Report Posted November 24, 2010 Sorry to hear that you wound up at this property again, but glad to hear it's okay enough for the price. Let us know if PRICELINE does respond.Thank you for sharing your win and for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
Bob24 Posted December 5, 2010 Report Posted December 5, 2010 I feel for you. I got stuck in that pit once myself. It looks like the only safe bet is going for the 4 star in the Minneapolis downtown zone since if you go for 3.5 stars, the Millenium awaits. It also looks like dropping to 3 stars is in vain as well, since they will "upgrade" you. Sorry to say, but I don't think you will get anywhere with Priceline and their overinflating the rating of this dump. The only....and I mean only consolation is the low price.
