Priceline Hotel: help with miami downtown bidding

I want to stay in Downtown miami Feb 4, 2011 (the night before leaving on a cruise from port of miami. We have stayed at hyatt miami downtown once before and were happy with it so that hotel or something comparable to that at of coarse the lowest price we can get it for. Looking to bid with priceline. help please??

Thanks for your reply. I was actually looking for advice on what to bid. I'm looking for 3 1/2 or 4 stars and I mentioned The Hyatt downtown because I noticed someone recently got it for 70.00. I know you cannot bid on a specific hotel and i'm ok with that but Maybe some advice on how to try for that hotel?

There is no way to target a particular hotel when bidding on PRICELINE.

Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the last expensive 3.5* or better for this stay?

I would rather pay the least expensive 3.5 or better. Trying to stay 70.00 or under if possible but don't want to wind up in something filthy. just basically want something clean and close to POM.

Current rates for this nite are very high and i'm doubtful that $70 will be enough for a 3.5* or higher. If you want to give it a try...

Thank you for the advice, I did have a couple more questions. Is there something specific happening that night that is raising the price? also when is the best time to start bidding, how many weeks/months before the actual date is a good time to try my bids?

Rates are based upon supply / demand so it could be just about anything... weddings at hotels with guests taking a bulk of rooms, lots of embarkations/disembarkations, conventions in the area, etc, etc.

As far as when to bid see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ, but given the rates i'm seeing, i don't see any harm in bidding right away as at the moment anything close to the $70 level would be quite a deal, imo.
