californiadan Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 I know I have to accept what I get, still, I have this sinking feeling the Westin will accept my bid, and it is the one hotel I do not want.Any bidding strategy at all to avoid the Westin?
AaronJB Posted November 21, 2010 Report Posted November 21, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to avoid a particular property when bidding with PRICELINE; if you bid 4* for a particular area (for example), you have to be willing to accept any 4* in that zone (there's no way to increase the odds of a particular property.) HOTWIRE would be a better option, as, based upon the amenities showing, one can make an educated guess as to which listings are which hotel. HOTWIRE, however, is usually at least somewhat more expensive. What are your date/s of travel and budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
californiadan Posted November 21, 2010 Author Report Posted November 21, 2010 11/26/2010 - 11/28/2010.Hoping to stay in the $80.00 or so per night range. I would prefer the MGM/NYNY or something on that corner, as I am going to a fight at the MGM Saturday night. If I have to, I'll just book with them directly and pay their price, as I can't take the chance of getting the Westin as I need a strip hotel.
thereuare Posted November 22, 2010 Report Posted November 22, 2010 HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to the be the MGM Grand or the NYNY (both have the same amenities) for $119/nite, where as hotel direct rates for these properties start at $130/nite... i'd sooner just book direct to have the flexibility of seeing if there are any other rate drops in the next week. Please note from our support page that we're an affiliate of both the MGM Grand and NYNY... please use our links for any hotel direct purchases.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
