Priceline Hotel: 4* West Hollywood help

I will be traveling to West Hollywood from November 26-29, and I'm interested in a 4* or better hotel.

I've looked at Hotwire, and it appears that the Sofitel will be available for around $150-160. I've stayed there before, but would prefer to stay elsewhere, and I'd like to pay less, so I'm thinking of trying my luck on Priceline.

Priceline seems to have plenty of possibilities in the area I'd like to be, but there are a few of their 4* hotels that will be unacceptable to me (specifically those in Century City, like the Hyatt). Is there any way to know what the chances are of hitting one of those hotels, rather than, say, one of the hotels that are actually in West Hollywood? I'd love to be in the Andaz, Mondrian, London etc...

Any thoughts on a strategy would be very helpful. Am I better off just using Hotwire since there are a couple of hotels in Priceline's Beverly Hills / West Hollywood zone that I definitely don't want?

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

With PRICELINE, one has to be willing to accept any of the possibilities based upon the desired bid (if you bid for a 4* in a particular area, for example, you have to be willing to accept any possible 4* within the zone.)

If you want to avoid a particular hotel or hotels, HOTWIRE is a better choice, as one can use the information given to make an educated guess as to what's showing. Additionally - while this may show slightly/mildly higher prices - if you search for 2 adults and 2 children on HOTWIRE (even if you are not a party of 2/2), different listings MAY show versus when you only search for 2.

Please let us know what you decide and if you have any questions.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Interesting about changing the number of adults and children on Hotwire. I'll give that a try! It won't affect the reservation if it's just me?

Regarding Priceline, I guess I was wondering if there were a strategy to get a different hotel. It seems the Hyatt, which I don't want, has been showing up on this board at around $100...I was wondering if there are price categories or anything, and if I bid $125, for instance, if it would trigger a different result, or if I would still end up with the Hyatt, but just paying more! Too bad Priceline includes Century City in their West Hollywood / Beverly Hills zone....given traffic in LA, I'd be spending my whole vacation in the car!

Is there any way to see trends on Priceline for which hotels are showing up most often?

Thanks for all the advice...this board is a great resource!

No problem showing up with fewer guests than you've booked for.

There is no way to target, or avoid, a particular hotel in the zone when using PRICELINE. To see trends in hotels reported to the board, enter "West Hollywood" (without the quotes) in the QUICK SEARCH box in the blue banner at the top of the board. This will show you all the reported wins for this area which will give you a feel for which ones have most recently been reported more/less than others.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
