Priceline Hotel: Las Vegas 5* - Priceline, Hotwire or other

I am heading to Vegas May 30th - June 2nd. I already have booked flights and have reserved 2 rooms at the NYNY for $80/night - per room (through NYNY). I have done a little research and seen several disconcerting reviews of the NYNY...my husband and I are taking my 75 year-old mother-in-law who is visiting from the U.K. This will be her first and perhaps only trip. We are paying. Of course we would like to stay at the Venetian or Bellagio but cost is an issue (we are also taking her to Miami and NY - and local activities in the DC area where we live).

On another forum I saw someone recommend Priceline for a 5* hotel which they reckoned could only be the Bellagio or the Venetian. I wanted to get opinions about the validity of this and if so...which to bid with Hotwire or Priceline..and how much I should bid? On Priceline I saw the Venetian listed at $211/night & the Bellagio for $159/night. I have never used a bidding site..but have checked 20 sites to find the best deal. I would prefer not to spend more than $100/night...is it even worth bidding?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Based upon current rates i don't think you'll be successful at the 5* level... but you could try (nothing to lose).

I'm showing rates at the Venetian for $169/nite and that means different 'opaque' rates than the $219 you're seeing... can you double check the rates directly at their website and then we'll advise accordingly based upon the rates you're seeing.

For those dates, you should be able to get the 5* Venetian for $99 per night on Priceline.

Any colored "suitest special rate" nights at $149/night on their website are the nights they accept $99/night on priceline.

Thanks for your response. I think I will try bidding for the 5*, I will start with a bid of $99 and then maybe decide from there. I saw that the Bellagio (their site) have rooms for $159/night...I may decide to bite the bullet and stay there as an early birthday present to me :)

If I have any problems bidding I now know where to go...

Thanks!
