With PRICELINE you can't bid on or target a specific hotel, you'll need to be willing to accept any 5* rated hotel in the zone. If this is not acceptable HOTWIRE may be a better option if you're able to take a guess as to the property being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase.

Once you're ready to commit to a non-refundable purchase let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

You can start bidding when you have confirmed tickets for your flight and your plans are firm.

Just let us know and we'll help you with a biddingstrategy if you want to go the PRICELINE route.

i know this is a priceline forum... BUT - if i want specific hotels isn't hotwire the better option for me...?

as fas as i understand (again...i'm a newbie) in priceline you choose the city, rate and price, while in hotwore, you can see the ameneties of availble hotels in the price range you asek.

do you know hotwire?

This forum covers both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE (as well as anywhere else we think you can get a good deal for your stay). As per my reply above:

With PRICELINE you can't bid on or target a specific hotel, you'll need to be willing to accept any 5* rated hotel in the zone. If this is not acceptable HOTWIRE may be a better option if you're able to take a guess as to the property being offered based upon the amenities shown before your purchase.

However, even with HOTWIRE, there are no guarantees the hotel will be the one we think... new hotels are added and the amenities associated with each hotel can change since the previous report. So there is still some degree of uncertainty involved. However, alhtough i'm not sure why you only want/need these two hotels, but at the 5* level in the North Strip zone all of the hotels are generally considered to be of excellent quality (and the other 'known' 5* hotels in the area are 'sister' hotels of the two you mention above which you're seeking).

hello again!

i now have confirmed flights to Vegas. so i wish to bid for a hotel.

the dates are:

check-in 19 Apr 2011

check-out 22 Apr 2011

our main desires are the venetian, the WYNN or the ENCORE , but i guess that other 5* hotel will be just fine, as long as they're in a good area.

so - my questions are:

1. the area i'm looking for.. is ... ? which part of the strip?

2. how do i continue from here? :)

unfortunately, i got a bit lost in all the information available here... :)

thanks a lot!

HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Vdara for $99/nite which is in their Strip South zone... the hotels you mention above are in the Strip North zone. Would the Vdara be something you're interested in which would enable you to lower your maximum bid down from $130/nite (which at the moment i'm doubtful would be successful for a 5* Strip North property).

If you want to try for a 5* Strip North property first let us know if you want to lower your maximum bid from $130 or keep it at that level, knowing this $99 5* Strip South option exists.

we would prefer to stay in the strip north zone.

a budget of 130-140$ per night is what we are looking for.

i'm sorry, but i didn't understand from your words if you think it would be enough to get a 5* hotel in the strip north zone.

what are the 5* hotel in this area? (north strip)

thanks a lot!

You can see the hotels reported to the board in this area in the Priceline Hotel List.

I'm guessing that $130 will fall a little short... $140 might get you closer. I'm assuming that you're not interested in the Trump (located in the same general area but off the strip and in the North Strip Condo zone). The strategy below is if you don't want the Trump... if the Trump is an acceptable outcome then don't bid as follows and post back for a revised strategy.

If you want to give it a try, at the 5* level you have TWELVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* Strip North...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140

Any questions feel free to ask.

i mean, how can i know in which zones there a NO 5* hotels?

also - after 24 hours i can start the whole precess again?

thanks!

See the first post of the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread where it explains how to determine your re-bid zones... if it's not clear post back and we'll break it down further for you. (NOTE: don't use the hotel lists on the board to determine your re-bid zones)

Yes.

hi again,

i went over the :

THINGS TO NOTE WHEN USING THIS STRATEGY:

-DON"T use our database of previous hotels to determine what zones contain what star ratings, as our list is NOT complete and new hotels are added all the time and star levels can change at any time.

-when checking star levels in a given zone, only ONE zone/sub-zone should be selected at a time.

-the zone you add (that you really don't want) must NOT have the star level you are bidding OR HIGHER. If you are bidding 3* and add a zone that does not have 3* but does have 4*, Priceline can upgrade you to the 4*! When you selelct a star level, it is the MINIMUM star level that you are willing to accept.

-if you don't fully understand how this process works, ask for help to avoid an accepted bid in an area that you don't want

and i understood that i need to check each area of the strip each time, to know which rates are available in each zone.

since i want to north strip, i need to make sure the zones i add don't have 5* hotels (right? )

but where do i check it??

in the priceline list view there's no division of the strip areas....

thanks again.

Hila.
