Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board, and as these amenities are somewhat common for the area, and no additional clues provided by HOTWIRE, i don't think we'll be able to gain much insight into this one. The Mercure, Crowne Plaza, Copthorne Effingham and Copthorne Gatwick all seem to be a decent match, but there could be others as well.

I bought a 4* LGW hotel for $39/night 12/12 to 12/13, which turned out to be Crowne Plaza Hotels, GATWICK-CRAWLEY.

I noticed that there was a hidden reference number at the top of listing. When I highlighted the area right about the red box with the star rating and price it showed up. I do not if the reference number corresponds to a certain hotel or not. Does anyone know what this reference number is, if it corresponds to the hotel it will be quite easy to find future hotels.

Turned out to be Crowne Plaza Hotels, GATWICK-CRAWLEY. I did use the HOTWIRE link. I also found a reference number listed above every hotel, which I wonder if it corresponds to the hotel. If you highlight the area just above the red box with stars and price a field "Reference No" shows up. Anyone know what this field is.

The reference number is search specific, not hotel specific, so there is no way to determine the hotel based upon the reference number.
