Thanks for the welcome, Aaron. Great forum, by the way.

Okay... back from staying at this hotel, everyone!

It did not disappoint.

The location of the hotel was right near Berri-UQAM metro station, which is a subway station at the juncture of three separate subway lines. Thus, it was extremely easy to go anywhere in the city from there. The Gouverneur is also connected to "Place Dupuis Montreal," that features a food court (for cheap meals), and IGA supermarket (for cheap food), and other stores - very convenient. There was also a Shopper's Drug Mart (Pharmaprix) near the hotel and many restaurants nearby.

As for the hotel itself, the decor is a little old style, but it was extremely clean. I checked for bedbugs (as you're supposed to), and found nothing... and got nothing. We got a west-facing room on the 19th floor and so we could see the park across from the hotel, the main bus station, the main shopping street (Rue Saint-Catherine), Mount Royal, and the river was in the distance. We got a king-size bed, a little fridge (nothing in it), and all the other amenities in a room that you'd expect. There was also free wireless Internet, which was a bonus because we had brought our laptop.

In the rooms, they give you tiny soap, body wash, shampoo, hand cream, shower cap and shoe shine sponge from Neutrogena. I used the soap and hand cream, and they were of excellent quality.

We never heard the other guests in the hotel, except for our neighbours entering their rooms, and in the elevators, it seemed to be mostly businessmen.

Service and staff were excellent.

Apparently, there is a pool and exercise room, but we never bothered to go and check them out.

Parking was $16 a night (coincides with the number of nights you stay at the hotel), and although room check-out was 13:00 (that's what the concierge told me, but in the room it says 12:00, and on the website it says 11:00), we could stay parked until 18:00, in case we wanted to stay in the city until that time. We took off earlier, however. With the parking, you also get a ticket that allows you to come and go as you please.

There were no additional charges and no unpleasant surprises.

For the price, I highly recommend it!
