Priceline Hotel: NYC 12/27 2010 to 1/3/2011

Hi,

My wife and I are travelling to NYC on above dates and looking for advice on bidding - prefer Central Park South or Times Sq/Theatre District.

Looking at 4* and cheapest we can find in those areas vary from $280 to $350 per night.

Is there any one hotel that you are more likely to get in a sucessful bid in those areas and I have already tried unsucessfully up to $170.

Are you more likely to get a sucessful lower bid closer to the time of vacation if there is vacancies?

I understand this is a really busy time in NYC.

The problem with these dates is NYE and, to a lesser degree, the day before and after. You may have more success splitting your bid, but that will likely require moving hotels.

There is no way to know what hotel is more likely to appear; if you bid for a 4* in a particular area, for example, you have to bidding to accept any of the possible 4*'s in that zone.

In terms of vacancies closer to the date, NYE is going to be problematic even closer to the dates, and if there is an increase in traffic for that time period, rates could go higher (many hotels are already sold out for NYE, especially closer to TS.)

Are you also interested in bidding for MTW/MTE? What would be your desired budget per night?

I have already bid uncucessfully at $170 for the areas I want to stay. I have made a regular booking to stay at Michelangelo Hotel at $350 per night just in case I dont get a bid accepted.

I think I will increase my bids daily by $5 and I am quite happy with the choice of 4* Priceline hotels in both Times Sq and Central Park South. I may start incuding Midtown East and West later but would not be happy with Algonquin Marriott in Midtown west.

I will continue to use the PRICELINE link from betterbidding site
