Priceline Hotel: 4* Amsterdam (City Center-Museum Quarter) NH Amsterdam Centre

Hello BetterBidding

I am looking for some advice for stays on January 14th and 15th in Amsterdam.

When should I start bidding, how much for 4* and 5* and any pointers towards which hotel I am likely to get. I have been reading all the posts in the forum and looked back to last year to see what memebers where achieving but wanted some recent information

I do not think there is any right answer as to when to bid. Whenever you feel the time is right.

I bid late. Many of my friends bid earlier. A few bid real early. One buddy bids while he is already in town. It is such a personal decision.

I will say that the PL NYOP prices are a bit higher now than in the past. For 18 months or so we saw 4 stars going for $65-$70 USD. Now---during the past 6 months or so---- it is maybe $10 or $10+ more expensive.

But I can tell you that if you bid on a 4 you will likely win the NH Amsterdam Centre----Movenpick---NH Carlton. And as far as I can tell (although this changes at times) somewhat in that order of likelyhood. I have not seen a different 4 star show up in the past 24 months.

Matt, while you may luck out with something lower, the price range of $78-$80 seems far more likely based on the winning bids I have seen.

The good news though is that you are likely getting closer

I have a $25 bonus cash amount from priceline. Can anyone tell me how it works? Is it eligible with name your own price, and if its $25 off each night or the total cost

You'll have to read the terms of the bonus as there are various ones that PRICELINE uses, but usually it's likely $5 offer per nite for up to 5 nites.

Please note that you can still use your Bonus Cash along with the board's PRICELINE links as follows...

1) click the PRICELINE link on the board

2) go to the MY PROFILE >> MY REWARDS link at the top right of their home page

3) use the bonus money link in the MY REWARDS section of your profile (not a link from an email) and bid as usual

Well there is some sort of mix up with my $25 bonus cash, it will show in my .co.uk browser but not my .com, but when i apply it it transfers me to the .com one anyway..... nevermind!

Tried a couple of times more using the PRICELINE links. today $80 was rejected :)

That counter-offer that keeps increasing as you raise your bid is a pretty common Priceline technique. It scares a lot of people into thinking prices are going up. Not to worry.

On the other hand, if the dollar falls relative to the euro, it will take more dollars to place the same euro bid.

In any case, Amsterdam is an amazing place. Hang in there on your bidding.

Used the PRICELINE links again for $80 today but no luck. Offered rebid at $100 but still have a few days to keep trying $81,$82 etc

You can continue to bid $1 at a time, but for a 1 or 2 nite stay i'd just as soon use $2-$3 increments... gets done in half or a third of the time and also secures this deal while available, making sure the currently available $100 property doesn't disappear (leaving you with much higher rates) while you try to save an extra $3.

Just to follow up what happened with my stay, I eventually got it for $80, it really is a fantastic hotel and the location is ideal
