kakaka Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I am looking at 3* hotels for 2 night's stay (Jan 13 to Jan 15) in SF. I found 3 hotels on HOTWIRE. Please help to ID these hotels.3* Union Square West - Nob Hill area Hotel: ($69) Recommended in 80% of customer reviews Customer rating on TripAdvisor: 4 out of 5 amenities: Boutique, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access (my guess is Best Western Hotel California)3* Japantown - Civic Center North area Hotel: ($64) Recommended in 90% of customer reviews Customer rating on TripAdvisor: 4 out of 5 Amenities: Boutique, High-speed Internet Access (my guess is Queen Anne) 3* Civic Center South - Hayes Valley area Hotel ($74) Recommended in 75% of customer reviews amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access no rating from Tripadvisor (is it strange?) (my guess is Whitcomb)I guess the price are quite reasonable. Should I try Priceline before buying on Hotwire? Thanks a lot!

kakaka Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 Thanks for the clarifying question. I would like to try find a hotel with nice room and good location, within my affordable price range. Taking a guess as what I may get before my purchase is important to me. Hotwire seems to be more attractive to me at this point as I can narrow down my guess and reduce uncertainty. Would you agree?
thereuare Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 Given your parameters HOTWIRE would likely be a better option.3* Union Square West - Nob Hill area Hotel: ($69) Recommended in 80% of customer reviews Customer rating on TripAdvisor: 4 out of 5 amenities: Boutique, Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access (my guess is Best Western Hotel California)Best guess is the Hotel California, but note that the current TA rating for this property is 3.5/5.0 whereas the HOTWIRE information for the offering indicates 4.0/5.0. The HOTWIRE info is not updated in realtime (only about once a month) so this still may be the Hotel California if the review rating has changed since HOTWIRE's last update, but it does cast a shadow of uncertainly over this id. 3* Japantown - Civic Center North area Hotel: ($64) Recommended in 90% of customer reviews Customer rating on TripAdvisor: 4 out of 5 Amenities: Boutique, High-speed Internet Access (my guess is Queen Anne)Unfortunately a property with this amenity combination has not yet been reported to the board. With limited amenities i don't have an educated guess as to which property this may be. If you change your search to 2adults/2children what i believe may be the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway is offered for $85/nite if that is of any interest to you.3* Civic Center South - Hayes Valley area Hotel ($74) Recommended in 75% of customer reviews amenities: Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access no rating from Tripadvisor (is it strange?) (my guess is Whitcomb)I don't know which property this may be, but if you're interested in the Whitcomb, i would change your search to 4adults/0children and the 3* offering shows: Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Internet, Business and these amenities match previous reports for the Whitcomb so that would be my best guess for this 4adult offering (which although a similar price to the 2adult/0children offering, i believe may be a different property)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Gallus50 Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 USW 3* might be Hotel Diva sans smoke-free icon. It gets 4 out of 5 on TA.
