chelmel Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Newnie looking to bid for a 5* on the strip for the dates 11/19-11/22. Specifically looking to get the Bellagio. Is there any way to narrow the search down to a couple of hotels including bellagio? what would be a good price for those hotels for these dates?
thereuare Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Bellagio has never been reported to the board as a win thru PRICELINE so i don't think this should be an expected outcome for your bidding. You can see the hotels which have been reported to the board in each zone in this Priceline Hotel List.Given the above, if you still want to move forward with PRICELINE, are both the Strip North and Strip South zones acceptable OR only one of them? What is your maximum bid? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. chelmel Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 Hi thereuare,Thanks for the reply. I did not know that the Bellagio has never reported as a win. I am primarily looking for a top 5* hotel on the strip (north or south). Which other hotels are comparable to the Bellagio? I am looking to get something around $150. For those 3 days, the rate in the Bellagio is around $266/night.Would really appreciate any tips on the strategy to follow in order to get a successful bid.Thanks.
Nosauten Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I've gotten palazzo which is a 5* for 170, but I've read in the forum that someone got them for 130. Their rooms are Hugh at 720 sq feet.Good luck.
thereuare Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 I am primarily looking for a top 5* hotel on the strip (north or south). Which other hotels are comparable to the Bellagio? You can see the hotels reported to the board at the 5* level here: Priceline Las Vegas.Note that HOTWIRE uses some 5* hotels in Las Vegas that PRICELINE does not... namely Vdara and Aria, so you should also check out the Hotwire Hotel List.I think you have a good chance at landing a 5* within your budget, but at the moment there is no 5* bidding offered in the Strip South zone. Is there something of interest at HOTWIRE or do you want to try bidding for a 5* hotel in the Strip North zone via PRICELINE?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. chelmel Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 At this time, I think I would prefer to bid for 5* on the north strip via priceline. Can you advise on the strategy to proceed to get the best deal? Thanks for the replies.
thereuare Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 At the 5* level you have TWELVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. chelmel Posted November 12, 2010 Author Report Posted November 12, 2010 Any idea why after just 2 attempts at rebidding by changing zones, priceline kicks me out of the bidding page to the "We have the following hotels at these prices.." page showing a list of hotels at the regular prices?
thereuare Posted November 12, 2010 Report Posted November 12, 2010 It's cross-marketing... your bid was rejected, they know you need a hotel (and don't know that you intend to try bidding again), so they try to sell you a room at retail rate.Simply close the browser and resume the bidding strategy as indicated. Also, if you use the search box on the top right of this page and after bidding get reverted to the retail offerings, it's easy to just click the GO button again and all the information will automatically be propagated, saving time needing to re-enter all the information again. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck. That's all I had to do and got my room on the third bid.
