Priceline Hotel: Bidding Questions (Newbie)

I see a very nice hotel in Ft Lauderdalw - the Westin Diplomat BEACH resort. I'm wondering if there are any secrets to scoring this property. Also, do the more desireable hotels wait to release their rooms to priceline? If I'm booking for September of 2011, is it better to wait until the summer to book? My logic is that as long as there's rooms left in the cheaper hotels, they are likely the ones to accept a bid early. As those hotels fill, it leaves bidders with the more expensive hotels that most would not prefer to book.

Thank you for your help. I hope I posted this in the right spot!!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

There is no way to ensure getting a particular property or increasing the odds of a win when using PRICELINE. When you bid for a 4* in a particular zone, for example, one must be willing to accept possibly any 4* in that zone.

Bidding for September '11 is quite a ways out; what are the date/s of travel? If your dates are locked in, then you could start bidding now, but I would keep a very low (but realistic) ceiling on the bids and then move that ceiling up slightly over time if bids are not accepted.

Thank you for your prompt response. I think with that information, I will wait to see what people are getting when the time approaches, and I will be able to make a more educated bid at that time.

Thanks again, and I will return here when it's time to bid!

Happy to help! :)

Please let us know what you decide and if you have any questions. Another option would be to book a refundable back-up within your price range and then start bidding and cancel the refundable back-up when you get a deal.
