Hi there, I've been using Hotwire on two occassions, very pleased with the outcome.

And I really enjoy lurking around this board in search of a great deal

Now my questions, 1st) late january 2011, can I expect the prices to drop a bit, compared to lets say december?

2nd) Why are there so few rooms with two twinbeds?

Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work.

Late January is certainly a slower period, and prices (unless there's a convention or other random event) are going to be substantially less than the peak of the holiday season in December.

Rooms in NYC are infamously small, even at higher end hotels. Some hotels do not have rooms with two beds and those that do often charge a premium for them, given their rarity. It's not recommended to use PRICELINE in an attempt to get two beds in NYC, as the chances of getting a room w/two beds is slim at best. While it may be a little better in January, NYC is in general just about the most difficult city in the US when it comes to using a discount service for two beds.

That's generally about the usual level of difference between Jan and December; the late Winter is really one of the most reasonable times of the year to visit NYC - unfortunately, it's also of course the coldest.

You could likely get a 3.5* in Midtown (MTE, MTW, CPS, TS) for closer to the $100 area (and possibly a touch under - $90-95 are at least worth trying) using PRICELINE, although one note is that a couple of the 3.5*'s in MTE are rather far E in MTE.)

Thanks again.

Since we will be sharing room this time, I've booked The New Yorker, but after checking Expedia.com and using FESTIVE10,

the Fashion 26 will be some $80 cheaper....

Might switch hotel..... :)

Anyway, thanks for your input regarding the MTE.

Thank you for keeping us updated and for using the site's Expedia link. If you can get the Fashion 26 for $80 cheaper and are able to change hotels, then that seems like a very good deal.

Please use the site's Expedia link to start your purchase if you decide to cancel and rebook at the Fashion 26.
