gator757 Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Have never used Priceline/Hotwire before but Vegas seems like a good place to start. I've got a trip coming up in a few weekends that I'd like to grab one of the 5* hotels north strip, so basically looking for:- Does anyone have experience with where minimum bids are hovering around for weekend stays at these properties these days? (Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, etc)- Does staying just Friday versus both Friday and Saturday have an impact on your ADR?- Are there any other particular hotels people have had success with that they would recommend at the nicer end of the scale?Appreciate the help, and happy to report back on what I am finding.
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)* Are you only staying 11/19-20?* There is no way to ensure a particular property. In terms of recommending a hotel, with PRICELINE, if you bid for a 5* in a particular area (for example), you have to be willing to accept any 5* in that area.* Rates are date-specific; a weekend may be inexpensive, then the weekend after may be very expensive due to an event or other factor.* What zones would you be interested in?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I'm only staying on 11/19 and 20, and I understand Saturday may be a more expensive date, and I have an early Sunday flight, so I have no problem skipping the hotel on Saturday if for some reason that would pull up the daily rate significantly.Mostly just trying to get a sense of what I should expect to be paying there (though I acknowledge your note about the variability due to events). As to other zones, I'd be willing to expand to other Strip zones if people have had particularly good luck finding good value at a very nice location - just looking for what people have experienced around here. Thanks!
MurtleCake Posted January 4, 2011 Report Posted January 4, 2011 The going rate per night of those hotels is about $200-$250+ on a weekend, I like to look at retail rates for the roomsI did a quick search on a regular travel site:Venetian/Palazzo - $290Bellagio - $268The Cosmopolitan - $221THEHotel Mandalay Bay - $220Wynn isn't coming up.I would start bidding around maybe $150... it's really hard to gauge. You an always rebid later if you don't get anything.Less hotels in Vegas allow check in on a Saturday than a Friday. If you are going to bid, I'd try both North and South strip. All 5 stay hotels are nice! Albeit more of them are in North Strip. But there are several brand new 5 stars in CityCenter which is south strip.I've never had 5 star success on Priceline. I've only won 4 stars. Also since you have time explore other options, do some googling, many times various hotel promo codes are a better deal than priceline and include some perks. (check twitter and facebook)
