The 4* Mag Mile could be a possible match for the Sheraton or Westin River North. I'm not seeing the first listing (the 4* NMA); are you searching for more than 2 adults?

Only 2 guests... could booking the Palomar Hotel for $157 minus $10 off ($147) be a good deal? or should I use Priceline (i'm just scared that I won't be in the Magnificent Mile area)

The Palomar for $147 is a good deal for that particular property in terms of looking for something specific; it gets good reviews and is well-located (as well as is reasonably new, opening earlier this year.)

However, in terms of getting the cheapest 4* in general, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE would be a better choice, such as the 4* HOTWIRE listings mentioned above for closer to $100.

what about the allerton hotel at $85/night with Hotels.com?

It's an older property, but well located on Michigan Ave. I would read reviews for it on tripadvisor first, and again, you could likely get it or something comparable for cheaper via one of the discount services.

one last question!!! When using priceline to name my own price... should I go for the "N Michigan Ave - River North Area" or the "Millenium Park, Loop, and Grant Park Area"

I really want to be in the area where Conrad Chicago is (where all the shopping is on magnificent mile)

Thanks

You need to be willing to accept getting a hotel anywhere within the zone. The Conrad is in the NMA-River North area, right near the river and South border of the zone. If you bid in NMA-River North, you could get a hotel at the North end of the zone. That wouldn't be a terrible walk if it occurred, but overall, there is no way to ensure getting a particular hotel or location within a zone when using Price.lline.
