zh3n Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Like most, I am a total newbie to travel bidding. I've traveled many times but never used Priceline or Hotwire for my travel. However, I have traveled enough to know that, unfortunately, the dates we've chosen are peak travel times and we MAY NOT get too cheap of a price for hotels but I want to try and get some advice anyways. Also, I signed up today and spent 2 hours reading and researching tips and tricks on how I should go about this. We've decided to travel November 23-28th of this month to catch The Macy's Day Parade and do some shopping. But from day one, when we noticed both airline AND hotel prices have been quite high. I was wondering if I could get some help on how to place an effective bids on what we are looking for. We are pretty flexible with the location in NYC, of course within reason and no place shady. 3-31/2 stars are fine. We've also settled with the fact that we would stay in NJ if necessary. If I happened to have placed this in the wrong section, I'm sorry and please feel free to move to the specific area.
AaronJB Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)These are unfortunately very expensive dates in NYC. What would be your desired budget per night, and which PRICELINE zones would you be interested in bidding for?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

We started with $100 but I have to be realistic and go to $150 and work my way up from there. I don't have a specific zone. I was hoping that maybe, maybe this would open it up a little for me since I have no specific zones, just something decent and nothing shady.
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2010 Report Posted November 4, 2010 Do keep in mind that a couple of the 3.5*'s in MTE are rather far E in MTE (the Millennium UN and Hilton Manhattan East) and that one 3.5* in CPS (the Hudson) has infamously small rooms (although rooms in NYC in general tend to be on the small side.)In terms of 3.5* in Midtown (MTE, MTW, TS, ESB, CPS, MSG-Convention) , I would start at $120 and work higher by $5's.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
