Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* Athens (City Centre) Acropol

Hotel was shown as 4.5 star hotel in Athens with no information about the amenities. The price was $63 per night. The hotel ended up being the Acropol (be aware, there are 2 hotels in Athens but they are both shown as one hotel on Tripadvisor, for example).

In the meantime I found a cheaper rate for the exact same dates and hotel on a different website. Hotwire credited me the difference through its 'we pay the difference' policy.

I received an email from Hotwire today informing me that the hotel's star rating has been reduced from 4.5 to 3.5 stars and offered me a full refund if I wanted to cancel the reservation.

I have cancelled the reservation given that my husband and I were hoping for a 4.5 or 5 star hotel for our weekend trip to Athens.

I hope that this information will help other travellers.
