Aremorra Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 After booking a 3 * in St. Petersburg on PL last month, I'm looking at going back to Florida in May and would like to get a 4* in St. Petersburg on PL. Hoping for Renaissance Vinoy Resort for 5/2/05 to 5/7/05. Any help would be appreciated!! :)

Aremorra Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 With only three weeks before my trip, I'm still kinda up in the air with making reservations and bidding cause I'm not sure if I want to blow the extra money to stay at a 4 star property when I have been been very happy at the Bayfront Hilton which I can probably get for much cheaper. I'm doing ALOT of traveling the next few months and need to cut back somewhere! I am only really interested in staying at the Renaissance Vinoy or the Bayfront Hilton but haven't seen any winning bids for the Renaissance Vinoy as it appears that the Don Cesar is the 4 * most people have gotten. I guess I need to do some more research. Any one know anything else that can help me out here??
ufjoe21 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Some confusion here..........Don Cesar IS a 4*, but IS not in St. Petersburg Zone BUT is in St. Petersburg Beach Zone. The lowest available rate for those dates at the Vinoy is $259 a night. The lowest available rate for those dates at the Cesar is $219 a night. The Hilton doesn't show availability for those dates. It's up to you whether you want a 3* or 4* hotel. If you want to try for the Vinoy I'd suggest you start bidding at $90 and add $10 each free rebid.Do the same for the Cesar. If you really want 4* you might have a good chance of getting the Don Cesar, most likely not the Vinoy, priceline might not have access to the Hilton for those dates, but if you desire 3* then you could start bidding at $35 and add $7 each free rebid for the Hilton.Start bidding now, and you can have your reservation well in advance.
Aremorra Posted April 14, 2005 Author Report Posted April 14, 2005 I just booked a backup reservation at the Bayfront Hilton for 5/2-5/9 which was available on the Hilton.com website for $110/night. I guess I will try to get this on PL and forget about the Renaissance Vinoy for now since that is the only ritzy place I am interested in for this trip. :)

Aremorra Posted April 18, 2005 Author Report Posted April 18, 2005 I'm STILL looking to book a hotel in the St.Petersburg area for 5/2/05 through 5/6/05. I haven't had any luck so far getting the 3* Bayfront Hilton but have only gone up to $40 so far. Considering you have to pay $10 to park there, I'm considering lower ratings and alternate areas. Anybody know what hotels the 1 *, 2*, and 3* are in the following areas: St. Petersburg, St.Pete Beach and Treasure Island? I've pretty much driven myself crazy today and am bleary eyed from looking at websites. :) I also have a free night at the Comfort Suites in Clearwater for one night and am wondering if anyone knows if this hotel ever comes up on PL? I could stay a couple of nights there, no problem. Any help would be appreciated!!!!! :)

Aremorra Posted April 18, 2005 Author Report Posted April 18, 2005 Yes I saw your comment before and may be using that Easyclicktravel link to book the Best Western in Treasure Island if all else fails. I also went to Savingsbarn.com to get to PL to try to book the room yesterday. But I could still use some help with getting a reasonably priced room on PL or Hotwire.

ufjoe21 Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 just a tip..........I have a friend who got the Hilton in St. Petersburg Zone thru priceline for $50 a night for the end of Mayhe needed to make the reservation for his grandparents............anyways....TRY $50!!!!!!!!NOTE: $50 is an INCREDIBLE DEAL for a 3* hotel anywhere in the US, if you can FIND a better deal I'd be SHOCKED, so do yourself a favor........stop getting bleary eyed and bid $50, if that doesn't work, bid up, set a max of say $70........you can't just give up because you can't get a 3* hotel for $40!!!
