naugh Posted October 31, 2010 Report Posted October 31, 2010 I plan to bid on Priceline for 4-night 2.5* hotel in LBV zone, Orlando from 1/6/2011 to 1/10/2011. I checked Travel Advisor, and prefer Hampton in LBV the most. My budget is under 40 per night. I then checked Priceline, and there are 22 hotels in LBV and Kissimmee Area of 2.5*. I know that when I actually bid, I can get rid of some hotels in Kissimmee zone by just selecting hotels in LBV zone, but there are still plenty out there. How can I have a better chance to get Hampton? In addition, when is the best time to bid, 2-3 days before your arrival date or far earlier like now? Thanks a lot!

AaronJB Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)There is no way to ensure or even increase the odds of getting a particular property via PRICELINE, and there are tons of properties at each star level in most Orlando zones. You have to be willing to accept any property at the star rating(s) you select in the zone(s) you select (and may possibly get upgraded to the next star level up.) Are you primarily interested in the Hampton, or are you willing to possibly get other hotels in the zone? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

I just want to know how often do people get Hampton when they choose LBV zone and 2.5* for under $40. Also, I'm not sure if I should bid the hotel now for my trip in January or bid later to get a better price.
yellowdog Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 naughHampton isn't one of the "frequent" hotels in this zone.I'm not sure if I should bid the hotel now for my trip in January or bid later to get a better price. Please read this link: Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date Let us know if you need any further help. Please follow-up this thread with whatever you ended up doing for the stay (even if you chose to book direct, cancelled your stay, etc) Yellowdog. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
Romelle Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 When I look at the betterbidding Priceline list of hotels in this area, I find a Hampton Inn-LBV in the Priceline Disney Main Gate area??? And no Hampton Inn in the LBV Priceline area??? For the betterbidding Hotwire list of hotels, it is in the Orlando (Lake Buena Vista - Downtown Disney) area??On the Priceline retail side there are 16 Hampton Inns, two with Lake Buena Vista in their names - one as a 2 1/2* and one as a 2*. The 2* one also had "south" and "kissimmee" in its name. I'm presuming the desired one is the 2 1/2* one?naugh,I did look at several pages of bid postings after I put "lake buena vista" in the Quick Search box. Of the 2 1/2* wins, I saw the Orlando Vista and the Country Inn, but never did see a Hampton Inn as a successful bid in the recent past. I'd say your odds are extremely low for getting it.Most especially in an area with so many similar hotels, you just can't hope to get a specific one with Priceline bidding. It even would be pretty dicey via Hotwire since the amenities can be so similar. I'd suggest you look at the Priceline retail side and see if you can find something there that meets your needs. The 2 1/2* Buena Vista one was $97 for your dates, but there were MANY others.Romelle
AaronJB Posted November 2, 2010 Report Posted November 2, 2010 Additionally, coupon code FESTIVE10 may take $10 off per night regular rate purchases made through Expedia if seeking a specific hotel. As mentioned above, the odds of getting a specific hotel when bidding in Orlando are unlikely, and some hotels appear rarely as wins or may appear seasonally - show up as wins often for a few months, then not appear for a while. There's no way to know.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches.

I guess I would probably look at other hotels in the area, and also see if I'd like to accept Orlando Vista and Country Inn.
