Lovely_Star
Okay when I started this thread the mods asked me to start a separate thread for my FIRST car rental bid on priceline. Yay, I'm excited and anxious all at the same time. Anyway, I would like to use priceline to bid on a midsize car, from HNL, we need it for 8 days (12/3/10-12/11/10), maximum bid is $15 per day. So how does this work exactly if that is what I want do...I just start with that or do I start lower and see if it gets rejected than go up in dollar increments or something? Link to comment
yellowdog
Sorry to say that i don't know much about the car side of PRICELINE. But you don't want to start at your max bid. Start at $9 and bid in $1 increments. Please use the site's PRICELINE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help.Yellowdog. Link to comment
Lovely_Star
Okay, so over the last two days I have tried using the PRICELINE link to bid. I started at $13 a day for a full size, rejected and down graded car options, still rejected. Next day I tried $14 a day for a full size, rejected and down graded car options again, still rejected. I checked hot wire and they are offering a full size for $14.95 a day. They are quoting the final price with all applicable charges and fees to be $180.53 and claim that there are no additional hidden charges and fees. Can someone who has rented through hotwire please chime in and vouch for them? This option seems like much less of a headache than playing games with priceline. Link to comment
Lovely_Star
Just won a priceline bid for a full size car rental :) started bidding last week and had left it alone for a few days out of frustration. Just decided on a whim to try and re-bid, really expecting it to get rejected. Bid $12 for a FULL SIZE 8 day rental to/from HNL and was accepted by National! Total with taxes and fees is $188.44. Hopefully everything will go smoothly with my first priceline experience and I can use them again when I travel. Link to comment
