Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (MTE) W Hotel New York

Hi guys, just looking to make a trip to NYC on the dates of Nov 18-21 three nights, I'm actually meeting someone there that i would like to help with purchasing their hotel as well, however their dates are Nov 17-22 five nights. firstly sorry I'm not sure if this post should be hotwire or Priceline forum as I've been checking both. i have been doing my research and used a fairly low bidding strategy for price line but i noticed this am that hotwire had a 4* hotel listed with fitness, business, restaurant, spa, high speed and 85% recommended. its was listed for $186. it looks to me like the W hotel, but i was just looking for confirmation it seems to be an awesome price.

Also just wondering if you could add some advice for bidding on if i should try and book the 18-21 together or split bids and do the 5 nights and three nights separately?

OK guys i had some success and some time so here are the details.

Firstly let me say that two of us are coming into NYC both from different locations. one of us was staying was staying from the 17-22nd the other staying 18-21. at first staying together was a priority so i started bidding on 4* hotels in CPS,TS,MTE,MTW using the bidding zones starting from 120 up to about 200 for 2 rooms from 17-21 (3 nights). just recently i decided that splitting bid would be best and as a minimum we could target the same area. so... i started doing my research on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE to see what was out there and what was a good starting price. after a couple days of low bidding and monitoring ho.twire i posted this message about finding out if what i saw on HOTWIRE was the W hotel because the price dropped significantly and i was ready to book it. but again i figured i would give PRICELINE a shot first because generally i have always got a better deal there.

my first bid was the 4 areas (ts,CPS,MTE,MTW) at 4* starting at 145 and on my first attempt i got the message to up my price to 180 and it would be accepted, but by doing my research and using betterbidding.com i knew i could get it for less, so i started adding rebid zones at 150, 155, 160, 170. i pinned the W Hotel on 541 lexington for 3 nights at $170. sweet one part out of the way.

I knew the 5 nights (17-22) would be more difficult based on pricing for the 17th ans 20th. i started bidding on MTE since i wanted the hotel to be in the same vicinity. i started bidding at 170 with MTE only and added the 5 rebidding zones by $5 only to be rejected. so went back to look at rates per nights and noticed that Wednesday was the most expensive. I then changed the dates of my bid to 18-22 and started bidding at $170. after adding the first bid zone i got counteroffer to go to 205, but i continued to plug along at smaller increments and pinned the same hotel at 195. i knew it would be same area but same hotel was a bonus. i tried to extend the date on the front end but was rejected.

And like usual i used the link on the website to PRICELINE.
