Hotwire Hotel: 4* hotel for anniversary (11/30-12/5)

Hi,

We are huge fans of Priceline and Hotwire and always use the links on Better Bidding to support this amazing message board.

We are looking for a 4* hotel in NYC to celebrate our anniversary (11/30-12/5).

Our max budget is $310 per night.

We have never been to the city, so want to stay central...near the theaters, time square, etc. so we can walk places and explore.

Any tips for getting a great hotel for that price? Any tips on neighborhoods or other successful bids that may work for us?

While Times Square is the 'center' of the city, i always advise others that they're more likely to spend most of their time outside of the Times Square area (and i hope you do!) Generally speaking at the 4* level the midtown zones (MTE, MTW, CPS, TS and ESB) all work fine for the average visitor... although some properties in these zones can be a 20+ minute walk to Times Square (and if so more than likely a 5-10 minute subway or taxi ride). Would this be 'too far' away from Times Square... if you still think that is the location you want to focus your activities around?
