3 Star, $176/nite, Empire State Building area hotel

Thanks in advance! :)

The 4* hotel above matches previous reports for the Embassy Suites so that would be my best guess for this one.

For the 3* hotel, i'm only seeing 4 out of the 6 amenities you have listed above when searching HOTWIRE foryour dates... are you still seeing a property offered with all 6 icons? If so, are you searching for more than one room or for something other then the default 2adults/0children?

Hi, thanks for your reply! :)

Yes, I am still seeing it, and it's acutally $175/night. Just did the search. 11/19-11/21 for 2 adults, 1 room. 3 Star. Empire State Building area.

Do you recommend the Embassy Suites for that price per night if we just want a nice, clean, comfy, higher rated hotel? Breakfast isn't necessary...I'd like to spend up to $250/night for a nice place.

It depends on what you are looking to do during your stay; from a tourist perspective, it is more convenient to stay in Midtown. This Embassy Suites property is in a very nice area, but it's also pretty far South and it is a trek (or subway ride) to Midtown sights.

The 4* boutique Wyndham Fashion 26 is $237 (on sale from $279) on Expedia and coupon code FESTIVE10 takes $10 off per night = $227. This property has gotten excellent reviews on tripadvisor (4.5/5) since opening a couple of months ago, but there is one review that does report a possible bedbug incident. This would still be a little South, but definitely more central than the ES. The 4* Chandler is $254 on Expedia (so $244 w/coupon) and gets pretty consistently very good-to-great reviews.

The Embassy is actually $229 for these dates on Expedia and with the $10 coupon, it's $219. If you are looking to be downtown, two other options besides the ES would be the Millennium Hilton ($239 on Expedia - $10 coupon - $229) or the new high-end Andaz Wall Street boutique ($250 - $10 = $240.)

Please use the site's Expedia, PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.

A guess for the 3.5* is a new amenity set for the the Murray Hill East Suites and upgraded to the 3.5* level... if so i'd probably take the Embassy Suites for a 'nice' hotel vs. the 'basic and funcational' of the Murry Hill East Suites. Of course this is predicated in my guess for the ESB property being correct, which i'm not sure i am.

What type of things will you be doing this visit in the city?

Oh that's strange, I thought I replied but I guess I didn't.

Thank you AaronJB and Thereuare for your replies...the Andaz and Wyndham Fashion 26 are the types of hotels I was looking for within my price range!

Our trip is just a low key getaway. I grew up in Queens and my boyfriend goes to Manhattan frequently for business; he is actually there for business on the weekday (get to expense the Library Hotel and the Ritz, woohoo!), so we just want a nice, comfy, clean hotel for the weekend while we eat, shop and see friends/family. We won't be seeing/doing touristy things so location isn't too important, though I would like a hotel that is within walking distance of a subway station.

The flight from SF is cheaper than most nice hotels, so I definitely want the most bang for my buck/luxury that around $250/night can get me!

Thanks so much!

These seem to be prices inline with the opaque options, so if these are within your budget i would perhaps just pick up one of the above. I haven't checked, but if they're cancellable up until a few days before your check-in date, you could also try PRICELINE / HOTWIRE for something somewhat less expensive, trading-off knowing exactly what you'll be getting for some additional savings. This would also protect you from rates rising from here while you continue to monitor PRICELINE and HOTWIRE.

Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help.
