AymzOnTheRun Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 HiI am a priceline first timer and looking for a bidding strategy for a 3.5* hotel in Times Sq / Theater district.I only wish to stay in this zone and my maximum bid is $250pn for 2 adults 23/12 - 28/12 this year. Please advise if this is realistic, and also the sort of price I might get both a 3.5 or 4* hotel at for this time of year.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you

Ideally i'm looking for the Marriot Marquis or Muse Hotel in the TMS district, however appreciate any advice on getting the room at the lowest possible rate.ThanksAOTR :-)
AymzOnTheRun Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Just had to change my flight. The trip is now 11th - 15th Dec. with regards to zones, looking at TMS and anywhere within a 10 minute walk, so looking at places that offer easy access from Broadway after en evening out. I am still hoping for Marriott Marquis, or Muse, although recommendations and bidding strategies are really encouraged. Thanks :-)
AaronJB Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 Unfortunately, these dates - which are closer to the peak of the holiday shopping/festivities in the first half of December - are likely to be more expensive. Additionally, there is no way to try to ensure or increase the odds of a particular property or properties - are you willing to accept any of the properties in the zone at these star levels?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
AymzOnTheRun Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Yes I am willing to accept any of the properties. Thanks
thereuare Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 ...looking at TMS and anywhere within a 10 minute walkSince you won't know the hotel until after your purchase, you also won't be able to know if the hotel is within a 10 minute walk to Times Square as most midtown zones will have parts of the zone within a 10 minute walk and other parts of the zone which may be a bit further.HOTWIRE does have a 4* hotel in the MTC zone, which is fairly central to the Theatre District, for $219/nite... would this work for your needs or would you prefer to try bidding on PRICELINE for a lower price? If you want to try bidding, are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better? Also, please look at the PRICELINE zones for this area and let us know which zones are acceptable and within your desired proximity of the Theatre District. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. AymzOnTheRun Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 I would prefer to try on PRICELINE if there is a chance I could save some money. I will consider zones Midtown East, Midtown West, with preference on Times Square/Theater District. My goal is the least expensive higher rated property (best value).I hope this helps.
