Smokeyone Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 I am a newbie to this forum and live in England. I am visiting America next Marchand have two nights in Washington - the flight does not land until close to midnight and departsat 22.00 so I have one/two full days. Should I just stick to the White House area orare there other areas that would be good. Just plan to do the tourist type things.Anybody know anything about dinner cruises..Thanks
thereuare Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Convention Center-Capitol Hill, Dupont Circle-Woodley Park, and White House-Downtown all typically work well for the average tourist, but you should look at each to confirm each will work with your intended plans. What are the actual date(s) of your stay? Smokeyone Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Thank you for the tips about which areas to research.Tuesday, March 29 untilThursday, March 31 I can play with the budget but if I said $110 a night shouldI be able to find a good hotel.
thereuare Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 A bid of $110 should put you in the right ballpark... maybe a little lower perhaps a few dollars more. Are all the zone(s) above acceptable? Smokeyone Posted October 24, 2010 Author Report Posted October 24, 2010 Thanks again for the advice. All the areas you mentioned seem fine.My wife made a suggestion though - stay at the airport the first nightthen move to a central hotel later in the morning....save travelling intothe city at 1am or so although I am not so keen on the idea.
thereuare Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 It's been done... but mostly when the nite of arrival (or departure) is much more expensive in the city vs. staying by the airport. However, rates at the moment seem reasonable so not sure i would do this on a two nite stay... by the time you eat breakfast, gather your things, check-out, make your way to the city, check-in to the new hotel... you often tend to lose half the day and you have a limited amount of time in DC.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Smokeyone Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Will stick with both nights in the city, 4 star with White House as the first choice followed by Dupont.
thereuare Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Are you willing to pay more to be in the White House zone vs. Dupont Circle OR is your goal the least expensive of the two? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
