hoboboy Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Sheraton Suites market Center.Pool, high speed internet, no smoking, suite. With taxes it came to a total of $73.20Is it really a four star? Should I be happier than I feel?My stay date is 11/15-11/16==They say they go with Travelocity, Orbitz, and Expedia on star ratings, so the Sheraton averaged as a four star. They say they include their users ratings as the ___% approval guide. This hotel was listed on their site as having an 85% approval.Everywhere else it isnt.As soon as I purchased it, the approval rating from a similar listing vanished, and was replaced by 'we are still gathering approval ratings for this property'The HOTWIRE phone assistant said that perhaps it was more than likely a different listing for another hotel as they have many. How often does HOTWIRE switch people from one property to another??
thereuare Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your results with the board. Can you please confirm that there was also a Restaurant icon associated with this property. You can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. How often does HOTWIRE switch people from one property to another??Do you mean after the purchase... almost never. If you could convince them that this property is not 4* rated then you would have a chance at them canceling the reservation, but as the average rating from the site(s) above is 4*, i think this would be a tough argument.Star rating are subjective and it is hard to differentiate between a 3.5* and 4* hotel. If you look at hotel direct prices for this property you'll see that this is a fairly substantial discount to a conventional booking, and whether you ultimately think this is a 3.5* or 4* property, $59 is a pretty good, imo. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. hoboboy Posted October 26, 2010 Author Report Posted October 26, 2010 There was a restaurant icon in the listing. On trip advisor [on oct 19th] there was a review that stated there were wasps/nests in a guests room. The hotel did comp that person, but it furthers my reluctance to believe the 4 star rating. You are right that it isnt bad for the price & proximity, but I wanted a true-blue 4 star, and I dont think this is it.I've never had any issues with Hotwires rating systems before, except for this reservation. My fingers are crossed that everything turns out o.k., and i'll do a review of the property when I get back.
