kraximus41 Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Please help identify 4* (Soho/Financial District) for $226/night on 11/12 - 11/14. The amenities are Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center, Laundry Facilities, and High-Speed Internet Access? Thanks!!
thereuare Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Embassy Suites so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. kraximus41 Posted October 21, 2010 Author Report Posted October 21, 2010 Thanks for the response. We absolutely used your HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links! I think we can do better than the Embassy Suites on PRICELINE.A little history-We tried unsuccessfully on PRICELINE to secure the W Hotel in MTE using a similar strategy used in this thread: NYC Priceline Hotel WinWe started at $150 with MTE and Downtown-SoHo-Financial Zone , and added rebid zones all the way to $200 with no luck. Basically we want to find a 4* Hotel for under $210 a night for 11/12 and 11/13. Any luck on how best to do that? Much appreciated and I will be sure to post our results.
AaronJB Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Those are slightly different dates, which may make a difference in terms of price. Are you primarily looking for Downtown/Soho/Financial, or are other zones also acceptable? In terms of primarily targeting downtown/soho, if you have bid up to $200 and nothing has accepted, then you can wait and hope that more inventory comes online soon at that price point (which it may or may not, depending on traffic coming in higher/lower than expected).Normally, I'd say you could try bidding higher, but in this case, there are 4*'s not too far above your ceiling - you've already bid $200, your max is $210, and the Millennium Hilton is $239 on Expedia (and coupon code FESTIVE10 takes $10 off - $229.)In terms of Midtown, I'm seeing considerably higher rates and some hotels (the W) showing as unavailable for these dates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
kraximus41 Posted October 22, 2010 Author Report Posted October 22, 2010 No anything is acceptable, just trying to get the best deal. We were just trying to emulate what we saw on the forum. We noticed unavailability at the W, and maybe that's the reason we were unsuccessful in bidding. What about taking it down to 3 1/2 star? What would be a solid bid for that? I think keeping it under $200 is more important at this point. Thanks again for the help! I will be using your links!
thereuare Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 If you don't mind the Downtown location, the Embassy Suites is actually a very nice hotel which gets very good reviews... in what way are you looking to do better, in terms of price, location, something else?If you're willing to bid $210 for a 4* hotel Downtown i would be willing to pay another $15 for the well reviewed Embassy Suites given the included breakfast and evening manager's reception would be worth the extra $15/nite, imo. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kraximus41 Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 So we did MTE, Upper West Side, and Downtown-Soho and started our bidding at $160 with re-bid zone, working our way to and finally accepting the Gild Hall- A Thompson Hotel near Wall Street for $210 a night for 11/12 and 11/13. We are very happy with this, other than the location being a little far south. Thanks for all the help!
thereuare Posted October 25, 2010 Report Posted October 25, 2010 Congratulations on your success! This hotel generally gets very good reviews and is not too far from a few different subway lines, so should work out just fine for your needs. If you're looking for a casual dinner not too far from your hotel this place makes a great rectangle pizza... drinks can get a bit pricey, but the pizza is very reasonable for the quality and it's a nice NYC restaurant atmosphere:Adrienne's Pizza Bar Restaurant54 Stone StNew York, NY 10004-2617(212) 248-3838Thank you for sharing your win with the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
