lml Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I've used Hotwire a fair amount, but thought I'd try Priceline, since prices for this date are very high. Would prefer 4star in MTW or UM-CPS, but would consider MTS. It looks like as of today UWS and UES would be rebid zones at 4 stars. Would like to stay as much under $200 as possible, but would go to $200 if necessary. Can you advise me on how to begin and how much to offer as an opening bid? Also, I'm not clear when it's better to use a rebid zone, vs closing the browser and re-opening to bid on a new zone. MTW and UMCPS are about equal preference for me.Thanks!
thereuare Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 We'll supply a strategy for you to follow and indicate if/when to close browsers... but just to clarify, you want to avoid the MTE zone?As a back-up you may want to consider the Park Central Hotel thru QUIKBOOK at $179 (our users have POSITIVE COMMENTS but THESE are a bit more mixed). lml Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 I usually prefer the West Side, since all my friends and family are there, but I could consider MTE if it were really a better value, especially since it's only for one night. I've read mixed reviews of the Park Central too, but I'll keep that in mind.thanks!
thereuare Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Given the high prices you've already seen, your desire to stay under $200, and it's only for one nite, i would consider MTE off the bat since it increases your chances dramatically. If you don't want to do that re-post and we'll update accordingly.Select 4* MTW...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* MTW and re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* UM/CPS and re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* MTE and re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* MTW and UM/CPS and re-bid zone2...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* MTW and MTE and re-bid zone2...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously....Select 4* MTW and MTE and UM/CPS and re-bid zone2...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200, if rejected close browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Any questions feel free to ask. lml Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 Wow! Thank you, Thereuare, for those incredibly detailed and long instructions. I'll update this post as soon as I have a chance to try them out. You are most kind to respond so quickly (especially so late at night on the East Coast!)
lml Posted April 9, 2005 Author Report Posted April 9, 2005 Followed the instructions above to the letter, but got rejected all the way up to $200! There must be some major event in NYC on May 11.... I'll try again later.Thanks.
