Labelwhore Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 $92 was rejected for downtown 2.5*, $79 was rejected for 3* Dupont Circle, successful bidding $84 for 3* in Dupont. Upon arriving at Marriott they said my reservation was not prepaid and I had to pay them directly. I called Priceline customer service who after multiple transfers and long hold times told me the hotel was overbooked and that I should talk to the hotel manager to see whether they can reaccomodate me to a sister property. I said my contract is with Priceline so isn't it PL's responsibility to find me alternate accomodations? They did not want to offer any compensation either and finally was offered the $10 bonus cash promotion to my account- I stated that's a public promotion and already on my account and he said that's all he could do. I asked if they can just call me back instead of putting me on hold for an hour but that's 'agianst their policy'. Spoke to hotel desk agent again who told me they're not overbooked at all but PL hasn't paid them. Still in lobby guess we'll see what happens.
Romelle Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 It is my understanding a hotel is supposed to find another place for you when they are overbooked. The process is sometimes referred to as "walking" you. I've never heard of Priceline finding the alternate place. The "walk" generally includes transportation, and sometimes some minor benefit like a free breakfast coupon. Have you even spoken to the hotel manager yet? I think that is the person with whom you want to deal. For the record, I'm not a moderator here, just a member. RomelleHope you post the end of this story.
AaronJB Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Sorry to hear about this situation! :)Please do let us know what happened - if you were walked to another hotel, I would absolutely call PRICELINE back and ask for compensation for being walked. If the hotel isn't overbooked, but this is an error on PRICELINE's part, I'd definitely write them or call them again after the situation is sorted out.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Thank you for letting us know about this new PRICELINE property so that we can update the site's Priceline Hotel List for the state.Enjoy your stay.
Romelle Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Did you happen to bring along a copy of the receipt you got from your Priceline bidding? That can sometimes help clear up misunderstandings. Romelle
