pftravel Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Hi, I'm going to Manhattan Nov 2-10 (8 nights). I can easily stay near JFK the first night as flight gets in late.Given our plans, I'm going to be picky about location... ideally Central Park South; could also do Upper East or Upper West, just concerned I might get something far from subway and wind up paying for taxis.I have a 2 star booked in CPS for all nights for avg $246/night (not incl fees/taxes).Wondering if I can do better by bidding (Priceline or Hotwire) - would be glad to pay less :-) or pay same for better property. My main concern is avoiding being stuck for 8 nights with a lousy property or undesireable location that snuck into a particular star rating. I also think it will be hard to get something for that many nights.Thinking of Nov 2 (Tues) - something right at JFKNov 3-6 (Wed-Sat) - either CPS or Upper East/WestNov 7-10 (Sun-Wedam) - either CPS or Upper East/WestAny guidance on ways to break this up?What star level do I need to avoid lousy/incovenient properties in these 3 areas?Priceline or Hotwire? Thanks so much... I love this forum! (And I'll use the links from here!)Pam
thereuare Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding!Given our plans, I'm going to be picky about location... ideally Central Park South; could also do Upper East or Upper West, just concerned I might get something far from subway and wind up paying for taxis. How familiar are you with NYC? Can i ask what your plans are that would require you to only find the CPS, UES or UWS side zones acceptable? What is your $246/nite back-up property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
pftravel Posted October 20, 2010 Author Report Posted October 20, 2010 If it does makes sense for me to limit to UWS UES and CPS, how might you recommend "chunking" our stay so that PRICELINE or HOTWIRE will bite? Thanks so much,Pam
