I am going to be in Paris from Dec 01 to Dec 04 and saw in hotwire a room for 4 adults as 229 USD for a 3 star hotel in Latin Quarter - Saint Germain des Pr

Unfortunately neither of these properties have been reported to the board.

Do you need to be in these two zones or was it the price which you found attractive?

While i caution against 3* hotels in Europe (their star ratings are a bit more 'generous' then here in the States and elsewhere in North America and this may be more of what you may think of as a 2*/2.5*) i would consider trying for two rooms on PRICELINE. I'd try first reaching for a 4*, but if that is rejected, i'd then try for a 3*. You may be able to get two rooms for double occupancy at similar price at the 3* above for quad occupancy. For example, searching HOTWIRE for 2rooms/4adults there is a 3* hotel offered in the Eiffel Tower zone for $125/nite per room. This too has not yet been identified, but it is recommended by 85% of Hotwire users and does have a 4.0/5.0 Tripadvisor rating, which at least assures it has some redeeming qualities.

If you choose to go for two rooms it doesn't assure perfection, but at least you'll have two rooms which should provide a bit more space as well as an extra bathroom, which should making getting ready to go out each day a little easier then 4 people using one bath.

Thanks for answering ! You explained me so well I will relate the whole situation for you so maybe you can give me some hints. I actually need rooms to 10 people. It can be 5 doubles, 2 quadruple and a double or 2 doubles and 2 triple. I was hoping to get them in HOTWIRE cause in PRICELINE we can end up staying in different hotels and this is not a chance. I am worried as rates are getting higher and I have not decided yet. What do you suggest ? Can I bid in PRICELINE for 5 rooms at the same time to guarantee we are in the same hotel ?

Yes, if you bid all the rooms in the same purchase they will be at the same hotel. However, keep in mind that the rooms will accommodate double occupancy, which means they may only have one bed (not sure if this is an issue for you or not)
