naneezy Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 My birthday is November 29th and I'm looking to get a room in or near the city that weekend. I know that it's right after thanksgiving, so what is a realistic amount that I should expect to bid during a holiday weekend? I'd like to go no lower than a 3 star. Also, I wasn't sure if I should cross post this to the NJ section since I'd also be fine staying in JC or hoboken.
thereuare Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 No need to cross-post... please keep all posts for this stay in this thread and if you ultimately stay on the NJ side we'll move this thread to that section of the board. Please give us an idea of your expected budget so we can weigh the NY/NJ scenario and suggest what your best option(s) may be. Also, please confirm, you just need the one nite, 11/27?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. naneezy Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 No higher than $200 is what my fingers are crossed for and yes, I'd only need the night of the 27th.
thereuare Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 While not cheap, the weekend after Thanksgiving usually isn't too bad... many of the parade participants are already traveling back home and there are few business travelers in town.If you want to stay directly in Manhattan HOTWIRE has the Millenium Hilton (non-opaque) in the Downtown zone for $183/niteThey also have what i'm guessing to be the Beekman Tower for $169 in the MTE zone.In Jersey City you might be able to get a 4* hotel within your budget, but the Courtyard is also avaiable (again, thru HOTWIRE and non-opaque) for $179/nite.Thoughts on the above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. naneezy Posted October 20, 2010 Author Report Posted October 20, 2010 The above options sound good, especially the Millenium. As far as priceline bids go, what do you think would be good bids for the hotels/ares you've listed above?
thereuare Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 If you decide to bid on PRICELINE you may or may not get the hotels above... you would be bidding on a minimum star level within the boundaries of the zone(s), not any specific property. If you want to go the PRICELINE route let us know your desired star rating, which zone(s) you're willing to accept and your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
