Merv Posted October 17, 2010 Report Posted October 17, 2010 First time posting. Need to bid for November 8th -10th. Want to stay in MT west, Times square, Upper Manhattan south or Chelsea if possible. Want to keep it at $150 or under. Not opposed to staying Midtown near Penn station but don't want to get Hotel Pennsylvania. Any advice? OK with 2.5* - 3.5*thanks,
thereuare Posted October 18, 2010 Report Posted October 18, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Hotel Pennsylvania is currently 2* rated by PRICELINE so this should not come into play when bidding 2.5* or higher. Are you willing to spend more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 2.5* or better for this stay?Want to stay in... Upper Manhattan south...This isn't the name of a PRICELINE zone, can you please clarify the zone you're referring to (using PRICELINE's name for the zone) Also, given your comments regarding staying near Penn Station, is the Madison Square Garden zone acceptable as well? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Merv Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 thanks. so I meant central park south not upper manhattan south. All areas that would work for me are: CPS,MSG,Chelsea, Empire state, mtw, times square. I'd like to get the best hotel possible for around $150 but not go below 2.5*. I would bid higher ratings first and then work my way down.I appreciate all the help.
Merv Posted October 18, 2010 Author Report Posted October 18, 2010 Hi - I put ESB in by mistake. I would probably do that as an additional zone if I just couldn't find anything. So I'd be looking at CPS, MSG, TSQ, MTW to start. thanks much
powert10 Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 i have been bidding for the 2.5 hotels in those zones as well, i made it up to 220 and was accepted by a 3 star holiday inn express in midtown for 12/5-9its a tough time to get to new york, when i started i thought for sure i could get something in the 150, but no way. good luck hopefully it works out for you.

Merv Posted October 19, 2010 Author Report Posted October 19, 2010 Thanks very much for the advice. I've been bidding all day. couldn't get 3.5* or 3* for my price. Finally went down to 2.5* and got the Holiday Inn Express Madison Square Garden for $140. It has good reviews on PRICELINE (8.0) and 90% approval on trip advisor. All in all I think I got a pretty good deal. Again, thanks for the re-bidding help. It was so easy and just required a bit of patience. I'll be using it from now on. Great service you provide and Hit your PRICELINE link about 20 times today.
AaronJB Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Congrats on your success. :)I actually think this is a great deal: certainly a very nice price for this well-located property, plus free breakfast.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE link.Enjoy your stay.
