Priceline Hotel: 4* Chicago (NMA-River North) Westin River North

Using the PRICELINE link, I started bidding 4* North Michigan Avenue at $60, each day adding Millennium Park and rebidding the same or plus $5. Note the $69 win at the Palmer House-but that's for late December. My dates look very bad since no one else seemed to get anything for this time period and I know lots of conventions are in town selling out my convention hotel and my usually reliable target, the Sheraton Chicago Towers. So...

I rebid twice each day until I went to 4* $95 NMA when I was rejected but received a rebid offer at $120. Before rebidding I went to HOTWIRE and saw their Chicago offer for $125! so there was no way I was going to rebid at $120 so I rejected, added Millenium Park and bid $100--rejected!

The next day I bid again $4* NMA $110 and won the Westin. I've never been there and its a longish walk to the Embassy Suites but it looks very nice online.

As I told another poster recently who also won this Westin, this is really one of my favorite 4*'s in the city - the property has a sleek, rather beautiful lobby (a holdover from when it was the Hotel Nikko Chicago) and a terrific location right on the river. While it's a paid upgrade usually, I'd ask if there was any way you could get a room on the South face of the building - rooms facing South look over the river, and river view rooms - especially on the higher floors - at this property offer really nice views of the river and city. If not, this is still a really nice Westin in a solid location - all the restaurants of the River North area (such as Rick Bayless' Frontera Grill) are a close walk away.
