Hi there!

Long time no better bidding:) Haven't been at any hotels for a while so good to be back!

I initially bid $61 for 3 1/2 star for the downtown area and was unsuccessful - Added the Urbandale free bid area and bid $71, still unsuccessful - Finally Bid $81 and added the Airport area as free bid and was successful and for the hotel we wanted!!

Result:

Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel

Room Subtotal: $81.00 (USD)

Taxes and Fees: $18.22 (USD)

Total Room Cost: $99.22 (USD)

So happy as the AAA price direct was $135 plus tax for the same night so saved over $50:))...That and we can park in the valet ($18 charge we know) and walk to the USCIS office for our meeting:))

I've looked at this property before as a possible stop for a long trip I may have to do next Fall, and it looks like a beautiful/historic property. This is certainly a very nice rate, as well.

I had a nice stay at this property. I see they call it a 4 star now. When I stayed in February, it was a 3.5. I asked for and received a complimentary upgrade when I was there so asking doesn't hurt. I got a nice sized room with a sitting area and 2 bathrooms! Granted, the bathrooms weren't huge, but for $59 a night I wasn't complaining.

Wow Bob!! Well it will be my husband and I and the 2 little ones (5 and 2) so I might ask for that upgrade! Space is great with the kids:)..my new motto is 'if you don't ask you don't get':))...so I will ask hehe
