sunnyazgirl Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 I am new on this board, but have used Priceline successfully in several areas across the country. We are planning a trip to Hawaii and are considering using Priceline for one night post-cruise in Waikiki Beach. In looking at the rebid zones available for a 4* I noticed that several zones have resorts listed. Are resorts a higher star category than 4*? They are shown underneath the other star categories. I was once upgraded to a higher category when I bid and I am not sure if I should include an area that has resorts (but no 4*) in my rebids when bidding for a 4* in Waikiki Beach. Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 16, 2010 Report Posted October 16, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! The hierarchy is as follows:5*Resort4*3.5*3*2.5*2*1*So when bidding 4* you would not want to use a zone which has Resort rated properties as a re-bid zone since your 4* bid could be upgraded and you end up in that zone.If you need help with a bidding strategy let us know the dates of your stay, desired zone, budget and star rating and we'll try to help.Let us know whatever you end up doing for this stay and please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
sunnyazgirl Posted October 25, 2010 Author Report Posted October 25, 2010 Thank you for the reply. That is what I suspected, so I will bid accordingly. We are not going until May. My plan is to reserve a 3* back up hotel now that is fully cancellable. Six weeks prior to the trip I will begin bidding for a 4*. I will use your PRICELINE link at that time. :)
