Priceline Hotel: rebid question - 4* vs resorts?

I am new on this board, but have used Priceline successfully in several areas across the country. We are planning a trip to Hawaii and are considering using Priceline for one night post-cruise in Waikiki Beach. In looking at the rebid zones available for a 4* I noticed that several zones have resorts listed. Are resorts a higher star category than 4*? They are shown underneath the other star categories. I was once upgraded to a higher category when I bid and I am not sure if I should include an area that has resorts (but no 4*) in my rebids when bidding for a 4* in Waikiki Beach. Thank you.

The hierarchy is as follows:

5*

Resort

4*

3.5*

3*

2.5*

2*

1*

So when bidding 4* you would not want to use a zone which has Resort rated properties as a re-bid zone since your 4* bid could be upgraded and you end up in that zone.

Thank you for the reply. That is what I suspected, so I will bid accordingly.

We are not going until May. My plan is to reserve a 3* back up hotel now that is fully cancellable. Six weeks prior to the trip I will begin bidding for a 4*. I will use your PRICELINE link at that time. :)
