jycnyc Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Hotels.com is now offering stay 10 and get 1 night free. I'm wondering if it works out cheaper than bidding through PRICELINE. I normally book hotels in NYC through PRICELINE at about 40% off. My math isn't good enough to figure out which one works out to be the better deal. Any thoughts on this?
AaronJB Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Welcome to Betterbidding. :)I'd go with PRICELINE as most likely being cheaper, but it's difficult to say precisely, as in most cities, prices can vary substantially from day-to-day and discount rates (spreads between retail and discounted) can also vary substantially. There are people on the board who have gotten amazing discounts (as much as 60-70% and in some cases a touch higher than that.) Sometimes (really busy dates or small markets), the discounts are not as substantial. Commonly, they're in-between those extremes and they're usually very good-to-excellent. It all depends on the day and market, and is really a case-by-case basis.Additionally, with the Hotels.com deal, the real discount comes after the 10, while PRICELINE you are getting the discount along the way.If you are looking to work out a particular trip, we would be more than happy to help.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Hotels.com links to start your purchases and searches.

Any thoughts on this?Assuming all the hotel rooms you purchase are the same price, the Hotels.com deal comes to ~10% (it's actually ~9% since the 11th stay is free and not the 10th)... but regardless, you should be seeing more than 10% savings from your PRICELINE purchases, imo. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
