rg654 Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 I am looking for a 4 star hotel for the night of Sunday, Nov 14. I know there is a big conference in town and want to try to get the reservation over the next couple of days. I am open to the river north area, mag mile and michigan avenue. Hotwire is coming in pretty high right now. Recommendations for bidding strategies? Should I opt for hotwire? I don't think we have a strong preference for a specific hotel in these areas, so I was leaning towards PL....

rg654 Posted October 15, 2010 Author Report Posted October 15, 2010 Really I need the hotel room so I think that the maximum is going to be determined by what hotwire is listing at this point. I will use PL if I can get a significantly better deal, but as we approach $150, I think that I would then just be inclined to opt for HW esp. if I can figure out what hotel it is. Right now, HW is showing $159 for a hotel in the magnificent mile area with bed choice, gym, restaurant, internet, business center and spa and $176 for a hotel with a suite in the NMA area which I am guessing is the omni.

rg654 Posted March 16, 2011 Author Report Posted March 16, 2011 I got impulsive on the bidding and ended up adding the loop as an additional zone when my numerous offers for the mag mile were not accepted and I had run out of re-bid zones. Upon adding the loop, i was accepted at a rate of $110 for the hyatt regency (which is much higher than I should have paid if I had followed a better bidding plan upon deciding that the loop was do-able).
