pizza Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Hi AllI have just joined from Australia. We are coming to New York for a holiday arriving on 22 November and leaving New York on 8 Dec 2010.We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 young kids aged 5 & 3).I was reading your tips on your site about using Hotwire over Priceline (because we can specify kids).I checked it out and Hotwire doesn't seem to specify the type of room that we need.Given our kids we really need a bedroom that we can shut off from a separate living space ( Do you guys call that a suite in the States. Is there any way that we can specify that on Hotwire?)So the things we would like are as follows:1) Somewhere close to the theatre district if possible as my wife would like to go to some shows.2) Failing that - a great neighbourhood for kids (Chelsea or Greenwich Village??)2) A suite (separate bedroom) 3) kitchen/kitchenette so that we can do some cooking if we have to.4) We cannot really afford more than about $250 US a night. Thanks very much for your help.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2010 Report Posted October 15, 2010 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't specify a suite room when using PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Sometimes a 'suite' icon is shown for a HOTWIRE offering, but this doesn't necessarily ensure an entirely separate room with a closed door... it's could be a room with a 3/4 wall which separates the bed area from the living area, so even the Suite icon won't ensure the type of room you're looking for.For the type of room you're seeking you'll need to book direct (try Expedia) or thru some other non-opaque means... but unfortunately for this time of year and the type of hotel room you're seeking, i think your budget may fall a little short. You might want to try an apartment rental, but these have their own risks, and you need to be very careful who you're renting from and know exactly what it is you're getting as there is little recourse or management to turn to in order to fix any problems or disagreements which may arise (i did it recently and not sure i would do it again)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know if we can be of further help.
