You lucked out!

In terms of the properties I've stayed in downtown, this is one of my favorites - it was previously the Hotel Nikko, and the Westin retained the Japanese style in the sleek lobby. The remainder of the hotel does not have the lobby's style, but this is still a top-notch Westin, and if you are lucky enough to get one of the rooms on the South face of the property, they offer superb views of the river and surrounding area. These rooms are upgrades, but it doesn't hurt to ask if there's any way you could get one at check-in. If not, this is still a great property in a very nice location. The restaurants of the River North area, such as the famed Frontera Grill, are just to the North.
