day-o Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 I'm planning a 7-day vacation in San Francisco beginning October 23, although I could leave as late as the 28th if that gets me a better hotel deal. I plan to bid (using your PRICELINE link) for Union Square East and West, and Financial District-Embarcadero areas. Would you please suggest a starting price and strategy? Hopefully I can get a 3.5-4* for under $125/night.
thereuare Posted October 11, 2010 Report Posted October 11, 2010 Please follow-up your previous Hotwire Chicago thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... then reply to this thread letting us know if you're willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR if your goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Gallus50 Posted October 13, 2010 Report Posted October 13, 2010 I think your chances are much better after the 28th. Looked at LMT and there are loads of 4* and 3.5* hotels available within your boundaries. The ones I identified are the Clift, the Hyatt Embarcader and Parc 55, all for about $114 a night. So they should/may be available on PL for less. Check out the listings on LastMinuteTravel.com and Hotwire for reference. You might also want to consider a timeshare or apartment type property that has a kitchen, like the Donatello, Grosvenor House Suites of Wyndham Canterbury. Let us know what you choose.
day-o Posted November 10, 2010 Author Report Posted November 10, 2010 I tried your bidding strategy, but wasn't getting any results. So I checked the Park 55's website and made a reservation directly with the hotel for an average cost of $130 per night. I appreciate your help and will be back for more advice soon. I will also use your suggestion to scope out LMT for hotel availability for my next trip. Thanks for all your great advice and assistance.
