Eastern Traveler Posted October 10, 2010 Report Posted October 10, 2010 I just used this technique to rebid for a room in Vienna (City Center). I had bid twice earlier today at $90 for a 5* and was rejected, then added 4* but dropped to $85 and was rejected. After reading this thread I found that there were no 5* in the Vienna North area, so I added that and bid $105 for 5* only. That was rejected but Priceline came back and said I could rebid at $135 and would have a much better chance of winning. I raised it to $135 and then won one night at the Hilton Vienna Plaza for $135+24=$159. Not exactly the location I wanted, but I'm only staying one night and checking out early in the morning. It's low but not a great bargain as the prepaid rate would have been about $237-$240 with the 3% currency conversion mark-up on my credit card.
