ijgordon Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 Was hoping to get this hotel in the $90 range based on precedent bidding here.Started at $85 and rejected.Added zones for free rebids at $90, $95 and $105, all rejected.Added Orchard Road after deciding that might be a better place to stay anyway.Bid $107 and it was accepted!Of course it was the Conrad Centennial though. So much for staying near Orchard Rd.Total cost $262.I bid through the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.

marnie_g Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 Firstly Congratulations! Surprised not! The Conrad Centennial is definately a Marina Bay Hotel and it was won it when Orchard Rd area was added. I think after my experience when I selected Marina Bay. I won the Hilton which is smack in the centre of Orchard Rd. My theory is for a 5* hotel it doesnt matter what areas you choose except perhaps Bugis (no history of a 5 star win - methinks its the Intercontinental as its the only 5* in the area) if you hit the correct money bid you will win Pricelines best 5* hotel deal - which at present shows 5 star Marina Bay which is where the Conrad is situated - in my case when I bid - the best 5 star deal was on Orchard Rd - even tho' I did not choose Orchard Rd I hit the money and I won the Hilton. If you look at a Pricelines map they have the Centennial in the Financial district! CRAZY!!Probably $107 buys you a weekend and maybe $117 will get you a weekday at the Conrad at present.
