TravelGurl77 Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 Hi - I've been reading the posts. I would like a hotel in Monrovia, preferably the Doubletree Hotel. I put the area as Duarte-Monrovia, for 10/05-10/08 (3 nights), starting bid $55 for 3* hotel (that's the highest option avail for that area). My bid got rejected when someone won a similar bid in Sept. I can wait 24 hours to rebid, so should I put $60 this time? Are there other hotels that I might get?
thereuare Posted September 30, 2010 Report Posted September 30, 2010 You can receive any hotel in the zone at the 3* level or higher. You can see the hotels previously reported to the board in the Priceline Hotel List, but also note the comments at the top of the hotel list regarding that the list is only hotels reported to the board and there could be others, star ratings may change, etc, etc.Rates are date specific, so you may not necessarily be able to win at the same price as another user, if demand for their dates was lower then for your own stay. What is the best rate you're able to find at a 3* hotel in this area thru conventional booking channels? What is your maximum bid for this stay. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. TravelGurl77 Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 OK, got it. $129/night for those days at the Senior rate and my max bid is anything below that. I'm trying $60 tonight. We shall see, let me know what you think I should try if I don't win it tonight.
thereuare Posted October 1, 2010 Report Posted October 1, 2010 HOTWIRE has a 3* in the Arcadia-Monrovia zone for $95 with:Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Laundry, Internet, Golfwhich i'm speculating is the Doubletree with a new Hi-Speed Internet iconIf you're trying to target the Doubletree and willing to pay more for it, this might be an option to consider. As well you can use this as your 'upper limit' for bidding (instead of $129) assuming this still available as you get up this high. Also, given you don't have much time before your stay, you may consider starting at $65 and/or increasing your bids by $10 so you're not low balling too much and run out of time. (depends how nervous of a person you are if you don't have a hotel room the day or two before your stay)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
