Priceline Hotel: San Diego Convention

Hi there, we have to go to the convention center which is in downtown and walkable distance from city but priceline includes also harbour island. So our question is, is it worth trying priceline to get a hotel but a chance that we end up to need a taxi to the convention center?

I think it depends on desired budget, date/s of travel and possible "worst case scenario" - if you have to take a taxi, what's the approximate taxi cost and are you still saving a significant amount versus PRICELINE regular rates?

Additionally, please go back and provide the price per night for the Hotwire Orange County thread mentioned above. Thank you.

What are the date/s of travel for this stay?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Thanks, we would prefere PRICELINE as could have a better deal right? Thanks

Depends how you define better...

Cheaper? Yeah, PRICELINE will likely cost a little less than HOTWIRE... but if you end up by the airport and need to take taxis to the Convention Center each day, would that still be a better deal?

Taxi may be covered.. so I would like a better hotel then. It is now 69 or even 63. Would it still be Holiday Inn San Diego-On the Bay? Thanks

...iinwalkable distance to the convention center.
Taxi may be covered...

I'm really not sure what you want from this stay... you first stated you wanted to be within walking distance of the Convention Center but then say that distance isn't really an issue (as apparently your taxi costs will be covered)

What is the star rating and amenities that are showing with this offering? Is this still an option as my interpretation from your last post is that you prefer to use PRICELINE over HOTWIRE. If this is the case, which zone(s) have you decided you want to bid... only the Downtown-Harbor Island zone?

We'll try for a 3* hotel first...

At the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 3* Downtown-Harbor Island...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $60

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Is it San Ysidro - Mexico Border and National City - Chula Vista?
Congratulations... you have your re-bid zones correct :) (but always double check just before bidding)
Kona Kai Resort, Spa And Marina , is 3 star rating on priceline.com but on your website 4 star?
Not sure where you're looking, but the Priceline Hotel List has the Kona Kai correctly listed as a 3* hotel.

I used to live in SD. Getting from Harbor Island to downtown will cost $$$ and the bus will take a long time. You will be staring across the water, wondering how the place you want to go is so close but so far away. But I think there is a (long) bike path..

However, you can score a very cheap car rental on PRICELINE. I've gotten them as low as $7/day though usually it is more like $12 a day. So that might open some options for you if you don't mind hunting for parking because convention center parking is expensive.

Chula Juana or San Ysidro are not cheap enough to justify the personal hazard if there's a risk you might wind up there.

And rush hour is classic So. Cal -- avoid going downtown or leaving downtown the same time as 250,00 other people. Though it's probably not an too much of an issue for Convention Center to Harbor Island.
