Looking for a room 10/29/2010 for one night. 3-3.5*. Would like to spend less than $110 for the night. What is the best bidding strategy? I started low and bid $75 for 3.5*: rejected. Bid again adding 3* for $75: rejected. Any suggestions? I have time to keep bidding, but just wanted to know of anyways to get "free" rebids!

Thanks

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Regarding re-bidding, at the 3.5* level you have TWO re-bid zones... at the 3* level you have ONE. See this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. (if you read the previous thread and are confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you)

Once you have your re-bid zones confirmed, let us know... are you willing to pay more for a 3.5* vs. a 3* OR is your goal the least expensive 3* or better for this stay?

We'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Yes, you have your re-bid zones correct (but always double check just before every bidding cycle to make sure that nothing has changed)

I do think you have a good chance to get a 3.5* within your budget, but to confirm, you don't want to try for a 3.5* and are hoping for a lower priced 3*? (and therefore not using a 2 re-bid zone strategy... only bidding the 3* level)

Please confirm that the above is correct and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

To be honest, I don't really care if it is 3* or 3 1/2 *. I would really like to spend less then $90, but would be willing to go to $110 if needed. So, in other words, If I can get a 3* for $75-$90, that would be the best scenario for me. If I have to bid higher, I can, but really just looking for he lowest priced 3* I can get. Does that make it more confusing or did that clear it up? Thanks for all your help!

Just a reminder that the hotel you receive could be anywhere in the boundaries of the zone (which also includes Marina Del Rey)... not just Santa Monica. Assuming you're fine with this...

At the 3* level you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Given you have some time i'd start low...

Select 3* Santa Monica-Marina Del Rey...

Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $70

If the above is rejected, wait 24 hours and try again using $75/$80, then if that is rejected try again $85/$90... each time please starting your bids with the PRICELINE links here on the board (and not in any emails PRICELINE sends informing you that you can bid again)

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
