melg Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 Hi, Hoping for advice on area's and costs to start at for bidding for the above dates. I want to say in Manhattan, I am thinking UWS, MWS, TS or MES, max including tax etc for 140 a night. I looked at the board and saw that last year same dates, that this may be possible? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks :)
thereuare Posted October 4, 2010 Report Posted October 4, 2010 I want to say in Manhattan, I am thinking UWS, MWS, TS or MES...For MES do you mean Midtown East? The zones above are not the most frequently bid for the typical visitor to Manhattan... the most convenient zones as a 'launching pad' to explore the rest of the city at the 4* level are usually: MTE, MTW, CPS, TS... and 'tough' dates ESB can often be used as well and still end up being centrally located. Not sure how much you know about NYC or how you came to determine the previous zones, but i'd take another look at the zones and let us know which you'd like to bid to determine which you think would work best for your plans... we'll then suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. melg Posted October 4, 2010 Author Report Posted October 4, 2010 thanks for your reply!yes i did mean midtown east .. so many acronyms! So far our plans are - sightseeing, mueseums, theatre, basketball, shopping .... I think my preferences would be: Midtown West, Times Square, Central Park South, Midtown East. Then including Empire State if needed. thanks again,

melg Posted October 31, 2010 Author Report Posted October 31, 2010 I have been bidding on and off since getting your advice.Today I noticed a price drop on HOTWIRE for my dates - used your hotel list to take a guess at it being Le Parker Meridien (CPS) for $115.Started bidding on PRICELINE at $90, recieved a counter offer straight away to go to $110, I kept re-bidding at $5 increments and won for $105! Very happy :) I used your PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for my searching and purchasing.Thank you very very much for your help M
