Hotwire Hotel: 3* Philadelphia (City Center East) Hilton Garden Inn

Hey there. I've never used HOTWIRE before and have a basic question. We're hoping to using HOTWIRE for a 4 star Center City East Philly hotel in late October for 3 or 4 nights and see that the one hotel that we have a great experience with (Loews) is a possible hit, as is Sofitel, a hotel that we're interested in staying in, plus other nice options. One thing that makes us hesitant is the idea that we have no control over the type of bed. We don't want a room with two beds but rather we want a king sized. Is it possible to request that? Would we call the hotel once we're booked and ask for it? Is there no way to know?

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

There is no way to guarantee bedding type with either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE.

Sometimes HOTWIRE listings appear with a "Bed Choice" option (where one can pick exact bed type for an extra fee), but depending on dates/location, there may not be any of these listings showing for your dates.

One can put in a request with the hotel, but the hotel could say no (depending on availability, hotel policy, who you speak to or other factors.) It is easier to request 1 bed with most big city hotels in most situations than 2, but there's no way to guarantee bed type (king/queen/etc.)

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Definitely go through with the HOTWIRE booking and then call the hotel. I have done this a few times for our stays in Annapolis and Baltimore - both times, the hotel was more than happy to accommodate our king size bed request. They don't care if you paid $200 or $50 for your stay - they want to provide great service and repeat customers! Good luck!

While it has worked out for colormecolorado at the properties s/he has stayed at, there are other uers who did not get their bed preference... and there is little correlation from one hotel to another, and even mixed results for different users at the same hotel. So much depends upon the hotel's occupancy levels, the clerk who checks you in, hotel policy, etc.

Bottomline: It's a calculated risk that you'll need to decide based upon your needs for this trip.

Booked through the HOTWIRE link at the top of this site. Thanks!

We wanted a 4* weeks ago but we snoozed and we lost. So it's the Hilton for us! Hope it's nice. The money saved will go towards an extra fab meal, I'm sure.
